The Day You Drowned- to Oswaldo, my first friend
I could hear the ocean that morning, some
thirty miles from the coast, in that way
the waves always break down without anyone
around to see the waves break down
and it made no sense that I would wake
to the sound of the waves breaking down that
morning, but there I was, awake, ocean
in my ears, and alone. I learned what happened
much later, bike tire treading water at our
park, a sign hung in the rain. You were
alone, skirting, dancing with the shore
the way you always would, the way you always did
until then, when the ocean danced with you
and led you onward, your favorite music with
your favorite partner leading you on, foam
stepping forward, you stepping back. When
the false step happened, the ocean cradled you
because you were its favorite partner
and it never wanted to lose you, to be left
alone. You, being gracious, went along.
The ocean was in my ears this morning. I hope
you're still dancing in the ocean's arms.
The Art of Wreck-It RalphReleased to theatres in North America in November 2012, Wreck-It Ralph has gathered a solid fanbase of young and old alike, reaching out to lovers of arcade and video game alike in a way that no other animated film has managed to accomplish. Because of these features, as well as an unusual, engaging (and massive!) roster of characters, artists have been drawn to the film, creating incredible works in a variety of styles and bringing more life to an already vibrant cast and story.

Only YouHi everyone!
I've gotten a lot of new watchers in the past few weeks, likely because of the site updates and such, but while I am a staff member here, I'm also a guy who enjoys getting to know people. So I figured I'd say a bit about myself, and then you can tell me some stuff about you, sound good?
My name's Trevor, and I work in the Product Marketing department here at dA. I'm short, chubby, easily amused, pleasantly surprised, generally cheerful, prone to wearing hats of all sorts, a fan of monkeys (particularly silverback gorillas), and by and large addicted to the internet. I go by lots of nicknames, though around here I'm generally just called monkey. If you've got questions, you're more than welcome to ask. :3
I promised a feature...
almost a month ago now
I'm getting really bad at this I'm sorryin celebration of 5 years on dA for me, so here are the works that were linked to me to feature! Yo

Project Educate Continues! Project Educate Continues!!!
projecteducate is a group and all updates from individuals during their weeks listed below will be posted over there! So be sure to join or watch for the full updates! If you want to partake in Community Week by writing an article then just note the group with your ideas!
How it Works
projecteducate started with purely CV run weeks. Those were weeks focusing on a specific art form brought to you by your lovely Community Volunteers. As well as these epic seven days of awesome, we've now introduced two more themes which run on a bi-monthly basis. Those are Community Weeks, which include articles from members of the dA community - and Artist Toolbox Weeks which include a mixture of articles focusing purely on the 'tools' of the trade. If you're interested in either please note projecteducate!

Close to Announcing Great ResolutionObviously we don't intend to leave you hanging!
Due to halloween some pretty key folks are trick or treating with their kids and stuff this evening so I couldn't publish a really terrific resolution to the Journal issues we've been having until tomorrow. Family comes first folks!
I can say the following with confidence: Everything everyone wants, with the added benefits that come with the deviations platform will be released very soon.
In the meantime, enjoy the really crazy journals showing up in the footer.
Oh, btw, because of the new Journal portal we learned we were having a bit of a spam issue, with a few bots posting to the network mostly to spike their google pagerank. Which is silly because we've set the pages to be ignored by the google spiders... so what these spammers are doing is all for nothing. But we'll root them out within a couple of days as well and ultimately really clean deviantART up.
For the record.... the community is using Journals at a much higher r
My Prompt Journal (Lit Community Experiment cont.)Hello All and Welcome to 2013!
Not that many people have picked up on this yet! Come on guys, lets get involved
(Original Gif too trippy for words!)
I hope everyone had a lovely break and are fully in the swing of the New Year!
Now this journal isn't a personal one, despite the title- in fact it is a journal I am challenging all of you to write and all of you to help others write. At this time of year, we've made resolutions and I expect half of you have included "write more" as one of those resolutions. This experiment is to help you fulfil that resolution so by 2014 you are sat here feeling achieved.
Prompts. Prompts are awesome. Why are they so awesome- because they get you writing! There are times when you feel unmotivated, wanting to write but not sure what to writ
Transformers Fan Book ProjectEDIT
Well, things are being pushed back a bit for two reasons:
1. I'm being told I need MORE responses from fans to add to the book, so please spread the word and if you haven't sent me yours yet, please do so.
2. As I am self publishing, I need to purchase the ISBN ($100) to get the ball rolling and get the book available globally through Amazon.com and Barns n Noble.com, as well as in a registry for brick-and-mortar stores to pick up my book and sell it. So it's going to take a little time to pull the funds together.
The book itself is finished, save for more responses from fans. Once I have what I need and the book is in publication, I will post a photo of the book itself with links to where you can purchase it. All moneys earned from the sale of this book will go towards publishing future novels and other books.
The idea has evolved into a project I wish to do for TF fans world wide. Even my 62 year old mother got in on it and I introduced

Coming Soon: A Unified Submission Process! We're always trying to improve the deviantART member experience. While many of our site upgrades are taken directly from community feedback, every once in a while we (administrators) need to trust our instincts. For many years, our gut was telling us that submitting content to deviantART was becoming bloated. Not only was it confusing for new deviants, but we found that there was redundancy in the systems as well as the content. We needed a fix. We made a fix. And it's coming soon!
A Unified Submission Process
There will soon be a single system to submit all content. What's that mean? Well, all new content (including deviations, journals, group blogs, and news articles) will be be submitted from a single page. So, you will have a single publishing platform, and you will be able to decide where it should be posted -- whether in your journals, news, or gallery. This page will have a snazzy WYSIWYG editor, allowing for rich editing of your posts.

Boosted Boards Best Thing Since Hover BoardsSo it's the year 2013 just about, and we don't have hover-boards yet. I'm just as bummed as you. But there's great news, because at least we have Boosted Boards!! This kick-ass project got kick-started with $450,000+ and my buddy Garry Tan over at Y Combinator got me an intro after I rode his beta-model. I'm such a fan...
Here's me riding the new model, Garry will be so jealous I got to ride it first! These long boards have the goods to hit 20+ mph up hill!!! If the limiters were off they could hit 60mph, but I felt really safe on this thing. It's so smooth and easy to drive... I haven't skateboarded in over a decade and look how easy I make it look!

A request...As many of you know, I play percussion in a local community brass band. We recently made history when we competed in the Regional Championships and won our section -- then later on in the day, our Intermediate band (which is mainly made up of young players and people returning to playing after a long break) competed and won their section too. This is a unique achievement in the history of banding and we're really excited by it.
Winning the Regionals means we have been invited down to Cheltenham, in England, to play at the Nationals in September. The Senior band are also competing a the European Championships in May this year, which is a huge accolade for us.
Attending the Nationals is going to cost in excess of £9000, and therefore it's a mammoth fundraising task for us - but we are determined to do it. I've set up a fundraising page for the band for anyone who wants to support us reaching such a prestigious event. If you want to be part of such a unique event in the
Communities rely on Pillars made of HeartCommunities of all kinds are held up by pillars made of heart. Typically embodied by people who let the weight of their community rest on their shoulders, willing to let life be life. Sometimes it hurts, and sometimes it's comfortable. Regardless, the result is a halo that surrounds all participants in a community. The healing light of being mothered, fathered or cared for.
These are very special people who take this role in your community. Maybe this person is you. In which case, please be you today, and every day. Because you are very important.
For the rest of us, we all know who the pillars are that hold up the communities that we care about. We all know the value of what they do, especially when we stop to think about it.
There is nothing in life that I have ever found a deeper admiration for than people who take on this role. Pillars of Community. When a human being digs their heels in, claims territory and begins to show Love towards a group of people, they begin to embody
