Deviant and Art Mentions

Mon Aug 26, 2013, 11:52 AM
Update: In response to feedback received from the community, we have made some changes, which are detailed in the "New" section of this article.

A new feature has been launched that's designed to make interacting with others even easier than before! Deviant & Art Mentions are a highly requested feature that send notifications to your Message Center when someone mentions you or your work in a public location on site.

How It Works

When another deviant uses the :dev: or :icon: codes to mention you, or includes one of your deviations in a comment or Journal, a message will appear in the new Mentions section of the Message Center letting you know, and linking you to the location.

These messages are designed to help engagement between deviants, as well as to help further conversation on deviantART, making it easier than before to talk with others, draw more people into the conversation, and bring groups of interested, engaged deviants together over common ground.

  • You will now receive notifications when mentioned in the Forums.
  • If a deviant includes your username and a deviation of yours in the same comment or Journal, you will only receive one notification for it.
  • You can choose to ignore notifications for specific deviations of yours, if you find that you do not want to be notified when deviants are using deviations of yours as part of their comments:

Try it out!

Deviant mentions have just been released to Beta Testers! You can try them out by commenting on a public place and mentioning another Beta Tester using the :devusername: code, or by including a work from their Gallery in a comment or Journal!

If you do not want to receive mentions, you can turn mention notifications on or off from the General section of yourSettings page.

Any feedback you have can be left on this article. If you encounter any bugs or other issues, please file them in the #devBUG Issue Tracker, under the Mentions project.

I accidentally deleted one of my mentions, not realising this was about. Is there any way to see who mentioned me?

I like the feature - BUT,  I made this Frozen - Hug emoticon, and I get like - 800 mentions a day (which is really annoying) how do I stop mention messages appearing in my inbox? Its so annoying

hey there ^^ i just want to say that this is an amazing feature ^^ and I also have a question ^^

when I add an artwork of someone else in a journal and then upload it as a literature, would the artist be notified as and considered as a mention?

hope that makes sense ^^
