In February, we released Madefire's Motion Book Tool to an initial set of deviants, marking the beginning of the Tool's release on deviantART. We've since seen deviants create a variety of detailed and impressive Motion Books, and are pleased with the artistic diversity that deviants are bringing to the Motion Book Tool.

Check our the amazing examples below to see some of the great work deviants have produced with the tool:

BFOI Round 4 by arkeis-pokemon    INBETWEEN 1 by LiHuaLiu    The Universe Is Not Small (Motion Poem) by The-Port-of-Riches

As we continue to gradually release the Tool to the deviantART community, we want to ensure that the experience of creating and submitting Motion Books is streamlined and efficient from start to finish.

Your Feedback

For deviants who already have access to the Motion Book Tool, we'd appreciate a few minutes of your time to answer the following questions. Your feedback will be used to aid development and testing. Again, please only reply if you have already been given access to the Motion Book Tool.

  • Have you used the Jump Start Guide, video tutorials, or other resources to aide in your Motion Book creation experience?
  • How many Motion Books (if any) have you created and submitted to deviantART?
  • Do you feel comfortable working with the Motion Book Tool? Why or why not?
  • How would you describe the overall experience of creating with the Motion Book Tool?
  • Do you currently have a finished story (script and art) that you’d like to adapt to the Motion Book format, or are you still in the process of writing/drawing/creating?
  • What genre interests you as a creator: comics, manga, anime, literature, illustrated books, children’s books, science fiction, horror, or other?
  • Are you interested in using the Motion Book Tool to make something other than a book or short story? If so, please describe.

Your answers will help improve the overall experience of using the Motion Book Tool, and we thank you in advance for your input and feedback.

I've started using the motion book tool with the provided assets.  I've been reading the jump start manual along with watching some of the youtube tutorials.  So far the interface to me has been user friendly and self explanatory.  The only issue I've had is when dragging the sound file onto the new layers bar, for some reason it doesn't register.  So I actually clicked the plus button, designated the type of layer, & then dragged the file into the layer... renaming it to match the file.

I don't know if that's an actual glitch or if my computer has just been on to long and needs to restart.  But since I've found that work around, I haven't tested out that theory.  But I will be, because simply dragging it on will eliminate all of those steps.

Motion comic books are the focus... And the genre depends on the storyline at the given moment.

Other than that, so far good... I'll continue to share feedback as I go along.
