Site Update: Literature Thumbs, Sta.sh SubmitIn our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update.
What's New
Change to Literature Preview Images
Preview images for literature deviations are now placed within a scrolling literature thumb. In the past, any preview image a deviant set would take the place of the scrolling literature thumb, making it difficult to distinguish visual art thumbnails and literature thumbnails.
This change allows for a more uniform thumbnail appearance around the site while also ensuring that each artist is still able to comfortably represent their work.

Updates to the New Submit Page, Journal ThumbnailsUpdates to the New Submit Art Page (Available to some Beta Testers)
Please note: The new Submit Art page is being A/B tested -- meaning that we're comparing the effectiveness of two different versions of the feature. If you're a Beta Tester, there's a 50% chance you'll either see the new or old version of the Submit Art page. This is expected behavior and there's no way to switch between the two groups.
Integration of Prints Submission
The Prints submission menu has been incorporated into the Submit page! This change makes for a complete integration of the submission process, allowing you to upload, submit, and sell your art, all in one process, all from one page.

Remember These Settings
A checkbox has been added to the bottom of the Submit page that, when selected, will retain the settings you use for your submission, and then apply them to the next file you sub

More Improvements to More Like ThisBack in August we launched More Like This to Beta, and after taking in your feedback, we made some improvements, which we're pleased to say were met with positive response! Today, we're bringing you even more improvements, both to More Like This results and your browsing experience!
What's New
The quality of More Like This results has been improved on once again!
We've improved the Full View mode by making the description area taller for easier reading. We've also added a More Like This button, so you can easily view more of any results you enjoy.

Beta Launch: Film, deviantART muro in Sta.shHello everyone!
Today we're bringing you some major changes for Film & Animation deviations, and also some new tools for deviantART muro and Sta.sh Writer!
Film Improvements
Film submission through Sta.sh
The first major change for Film is that Sta.sh is now properly equipped to support film submissions! While it was sort of possible in the past, Sta.sh can now store and submit film files the same way other filetypes can be stored and submitted.
Keep in mind that you have to have film submission privileges in order to submit films to deviantART. For more information on this, please read this FAQ: :faq842:
Film Deviation Page Changes
The second change is regarding the layout of film deviations. The old film layout was designed with an older version of deviantART in mind, and this change places Film submissions back up to speed with the rest of the site. The Film deviation page has been updated to

Literature Improvements, Emoticon Sidebar

Today we're bringing you several improvements to your experience with literature and Journals on deviantART!

Updates to Literature Appearance

We've made some changes to the way literature and Journals display on deviantART. In order to provide a more unified experience, we've updated the format of literature deviations and Journals to better display your text, as well as to optimize the reading experience for your readers!

In addition to the updated background, we've made sure that familiar tools for readers have been retained with the new layout. Readers can change the background from light to dark, enlarge the text, and more, using the buttons presented at the top of each literature deviation.

Try it out: You can give this feature a try by going to ^Beccalicious's Biscuits and You (featured above), or by going to any Literature deviation!

Emoticons Tab in Sta.sh Writer

We've added an Emoticons tab to the "Add Items" section of the Sta.sh Writer sidebar, allowing you to add deviantART emoticons directly from the sidebar. This gives you the ability to click and add emoticons to your text instead of requiring you to manually type them out.

Try it out: The Emoticons tab is now visible in Sta.sh Writer's sidebar, ready for you to use. Bugs and issues can be filed in the #devBUG Issue Tracker under the Emoticon Sidebar project.

I'm not sure if it's just me (I tried with my own literature deviations), but the ones with a preview image don't show the buttons on the top right. °_°

After this update came out, lit thumbs became broken (the text ignored the ribbon/tag and overlapped it). When I turned beta testing off, they returned to normal. [link] As seen here.
