Notifications for Commissions

Tue Jun 11, 2013, 10:48 AM

A new set of notifications have been added to the Message Center to bring more exposure to artists offering Commissions!

Whenever an artist lists a Commission through the Commissions Widget, a notification message will be sent to that artist's watchers, informing them that a new Commission is available. These messages, grouped into a new Activity section of the Message Center, can be enabled or disabled from the deviantWATCH modal on a deviant's Profile and the Manage Friends page.

Did I read correctly somewhere that we are able to rate commissions? I can't seem to find the journal where I read that, so I can't confirm if it's true or if I'm misremembering. If it is true, could you tell me how to do this?

It's an idea that hasn't yet been released. Here's the article [link]

This is fantastic!! I have to close my commissions during semesters, and I often get people asking me to note them when they reopen. This is going to save me the trouble of keeping a "to be notified" list, as well as get the attention of people who missed my journal :D

I did, but I got ignored by another staff member after showing the proof speaking for me... Seems I need to write another post, this time including everything together.

Well, "Activity" certainly is ambiguous. I should hope that commission updates aren't the only thing going under that category. (Not that I dislike having the choice to watch for that).

I'm surprised y'all don't just place it somewhere on my deviation pages, like y'did with More Like This.

And NO, that is NOT A SUGGESTION

Every time I hear another deviant complain about that feature, it makes me happy. Why couldn't they at least move it further down the page if they weren't going to keep it as a button?

I'd like to see MLT moved to share the page-space with DDs and What's New. It will down low enough to not interfere with a deviation, it will not be *on* a deviant's page as it would be dA's space, and thosw who want to see it can leave the page-space set to MLT, those who don't can leave it on DDs or NEW or Popular

That's a good idea.
They could also put it down there in addition to the DDs and What's New if they don't want More Like This to be replaceable.

Anywhere that doesn't compete with the art for attention I would love.

That's a great idea! It certainly makes me more interested in using the widget. :aww:

Unrelated, but why are the checkboxes shiny and blue in the screenshot? :? Is it because of your browser or computer, or is it just that the screenshots are from a beta or alpha tester?

I'm pretty sure it's their browser/computer, because I'm an alpha tester and mine don't look like that.

Explaining how to commission:
(skip to the next line for how to post that you are doing commishes)
------------
There is a commissions widget when you click the edit button on your profile. When you apply the widget to your profile, You can start adding some options for people to choose from. The minimum points to pay is 10 (its goes as, 10, 20, 30 etc) max is somewhere around 40,000? I don't remember. You can also add pictures as examples for each option. Its best to add your artwork to the options to try and encourage them to click 'Buy commission.'

Once they click that, it will be sent to your correspondence Messages.

"____ has asked for a commissions. will you accept?" Click Yes if you do.

The artist will have obviously put a note attached to tell you what they ask for.

--------------------------------
Now, besides explained above (journal), You can also post a journal to your watchers. Just create a Journal and make it 'Commissions OPEN' Then just talk about it.

(Sorry if this isn't what you asked fo. I couldn't understand your question)

Why does it have to be in points <_< if someone wants to commission me, they would have to spend 800 to 40'000 points!
