  • Image alignment problems would occur header tags. Fixed by kemayo

Your Feedback

Thanks very much for the feedback left on last week's Site Update! Here's some of what you had to say.
  • Several members mentioned that they were unfamiliar with submitting deviations exclusively to Groups, though the deviants who were familiar with the feature said they found it useful for submitting content intended to be used specifically for that Group.
  • Some deviants would like to be able to include images within their literature submissions. Suggested by Jestloo
  • Deviants would like a way to collaborate using deviantART muro. Suggested by Metacat66
  • Some members would like an "Edit with deviantART Muro" button for their posted deviations. Suggested by kittyhawk-contrail
  • Deviants would like a pencil tool for deviantART muro. Suggested by Que-ink
  • Some members would like to be able to set priority for some of the deviants they watch, so that those messages show up higher in their Message Center. Suggested by Soniclink137

Discuss!

Representing Yourself on Your Profile
How do you represent yourself as an artist or art appreciator using your Profile? Do you change your settings frequently? Are you more inclined to leave settings as they are and allow new content to be what updates your page? Do you feel that your avatar and deviantID are an important part of representing yourself as an artist?

Hmm, what about fixing the random "move mouse/click anywhere and refreshes to blank page" bug?  :/  I've narrowed it down to st.deviantart.net and searching for "onmouse" seems to provide an obvious suspect.  If I block that server in NoScript, then it stops doing this but then you can't comment.  :peeved:

I think I found another bug. When ever I write a comment on a Deviants pictures, I try to leave a big comment praising certain aspects of their work. So since I'm writing paragraphs, I space accordingly so it looks nice, and simple to read and not a big wall of text. But for some reason, with every post I make, all spaces are being taken out, and it is becoming just one clump of text. For example right now I am spacing lines between every couple sentences. But once I hit send it's going to be one fat paragraph.

Would it be feasible for deviants to have an "Auto approve" list of groups that like to show that deviant's work in their gallery? As it is now, an artist can either approve or deny (or ignore which is kind of rude.) If there was a third option, "add group to approved list", the artist would no longer be bothered by needing to go through a long list of approvals. Within a short time, the requests would lessen to the point the artist could actually take action rather than ignore. A procedure for modifying the list would be needed as well. That's my 2 CDN.

I am both and artist and a writer but lately the second of the two has been put on hold so I cannot get my stories out there as much as I would like to due to the fact that Sta.sh in my opinion is being very stupid. Everytime that I type a few words and then pause to think about the next sentence or two instead of staying where I was it will send my all the way back up to the begining of the entire thing, forcing me to go back and find my place and even then if I dont click it fast enough it will still send me back to the top of the entire story and refuse to let me scroll down for some time. Its really a problem and I dont know if its just me but I know of other people who are having the same problems with their own Sta.sh and I would really appriciate it if someone would look into it to see if its actually something wrong with Sta'sh or if its just my opperatining system going crazy cause Im close to blowing a fuse.
Also I usually keep my page the same considering how Im not a premium member of DA (Sorry guys Im a poor artist. XD) But I really would like for there to be more features opened to the people who are like me and dedicated to this place and want to make their page classy or just reflect their own natural style.
Thank you for your time.

I changed the whole thing to purple for Spirit Day and changed it back about a week later. That's the most I've changed my page in a long time. I occasionally change my featured deviations, but in general I tend to display the same widgets.

sta.sh gave me a scare just a few minutes ago - the click and drag thing is really confusing.
I was trying to move a file into a stack that already existed; never again will i do that. HAHA.
but it selected everything between that file and the stack - it wasn't the most convenient way to move things. it moved all the selected objects - even important files (i use sta.sh for schoolwork sometimes, too - luckily i have those saved elsewhere) and they ended up with my drafts. however, when i clicked drafts to move them back out, it said it didn't exist. i'm assuming i somehow deleted them, but i was still able to access the files with links - just not the stack.
also, they are no longer visible when looking at the homepage, making it even more frustrating. they are also unable to be edited, only edited and submitted.
otherwise, i'm loving how sta.sh works. dA, too.

Can you explain why y2jenn and other da mods are going around saying the banned status page of a deviant is a bug?

Account Ban: Indefinite
Indefinitely banned accounts will be blocked from all site interaction with the exception of accessing the Help Desk.
Visitors to an account which has been indefinitely banned will be greeted by a closed, unviewable userpage which displays a message that "This account is inactive."

Hey pal, were you trying to be a smartass? Because you look more like a dumbass now. I've already posted those links and it's even on this change log thing. Pretty sure this ain't no bug pal. The mods fucked up and refuse to acknowledge it or even take responsibility for it.

"Pal", I was merely offering a possible explanation as to why the deactivated page is returned when viewing a banned user's page.

The site update stated:
"Banned and deactivated accounts now display an error page and return a "This account is inactive" message". Notice this is different to the message already on deactivated accounts. Now the staff claim that the deactivation message on banned accounts is a bug.
My theory is that a page like the one mentioned in the update was developed, but there is a bug causing the deactivation page to be displayed instead.

Tch, sorry pal but the bug is just some bullshit excuse for the mods to ignore reports about banevaders. Just like the third-party bullshit excuse when users report stolen art.
Neither status page shows this error page just that the account is inactive and deactivated. Show me a banned page where it shows this error page! I'd like to see it.

For Stash:
please allow to save and reuse customized default
so if as example i do mostly 3D fractals i may avoid to wrote again and again ,day after day

Mature content = no
allow download original size =yes
Tag = 3D fractal
Gallery folder(s) = 3D fractal
Request critique = yes
and so on

Will be amazing, obviously title and comment always change but for the rest please allow to save and reuse the most used setting

And don't force me every-time to specify if there is mature content...will be really very difficult create a pornographic raw fractal, or even a abstract wallpaper with mature content

Increase more features for the +channels system and promote it heavily. There are some suggestions in the suggestions forum about seeing others faves and things related to that, which can be really used well through the +channels system. Also, it would be nice to increase the number of slots available in there.

Ah, ok, just go to your deviation page and at the right hand side where the Group icons are just place your cursor over the icon of the group you want to remove the deviation, a little pencil icon should show up, just click that pencil icon and select "Remove deviation from this group". Hope that helps. :)

It would be awesome if we could get a pencil tool for muro, frame support (with the option to change the frame delay) and to create palettes as in Animaki 2 :innocent:

I think it would be great if there would be thumbnail codes for Gallery Folders. Recently I wanted to add a Gallery Folder to my Artist's comments but then I noticed that it isn't possible. xD

I'd like to suggest a few things :)

An easier way to access group messages and to see them coming in. Just a small arrow on the side with no number like other messages is no help and I just have to check regularly instead of seeing a number :/ Which brings me to a second point - I'd like the notification when someone accepts my request to have their work added to the group - not the message simply disappears from the notification center and I wonder how my message list from 20 went down to 10 - I'd like to see those other 10 messages that would otherwise disappear remain there and show "the user accepted to have their deviation in the group" - when I'm done reading them, I delete them myself :)

Secondly, any easier way to incorporate an "Invite to Group" button on people's profiles, making it a bit easier to invite people? Every time I think someone will enjoy being a member of my group, I must go on their profile, copy their name, go to my profile, find the link to my group, click the invite and paste the persons name there. Long process ennit?

Lastly, any way to differentiate between people's profiles you've visited before and new persons who have visited your work in the message center? I like to give llamas to those who would have favorited my work. However, sometimes I end up repeatedly visiting the same persons profile because I forget their name or I wouldn't be sure if I've visited their profile before.
Or else, being able to categorize messages by person in the message center?
Or else, how about a give llama badge incorporated into the favorite notification in the message center? :)

Avatar and deviantID are both important part of representing yourself as an artist. It helps give viewers an idea of what kind of person you are. They give you an image, and these days, image is everything.

As for whether I leave settings as they are or allow new content to update my page...it depends. If I like the new content, I update to that, and if not, I leave things as they are, or at least I try the best I can to.

I'd rather not have images within literature deviations. Having one at the top of the story is okay, but within the deviation itself would just be distracting.

Priority for the message center sounds like a fantastic idea. I don't look at many deviations from groups, and there are some deviants I'd rather see work from first than others, especially when people post separate chapters for stories.

Also, I'd have to agree that the scrolling down to the comment box after I favorite thing is kind of annoying.
