Now I'm very cheap, the price depends on the style and content: for now these are sketches, because I'm far too slow with full-detaled works, so it's like 65p for 1 dragon headshot without shading and up. Full detailed full body character without bg is 1000p for now(+ additional payment for markings, that depend on their complexity). But I'd rather prefer to earn like 150$ for the character (it's still not 5$ per hour, because one haracter takes me FAR longer than 10hours). But people are poor so it's nice to offer things thay can afford^^
* How do you prefer to pay or receive payments?
I've just created my PayPal account... so I don't know yet. I I think sending DA points is easier for the commissioners (PayPal may be scary for those who've never used it before). But I'd like to get real money for my work... so it would be great if DA allowed to exchange points into money, not only vice-versa... I think that could encourage people to use points more frequently (e.g. more artists would accept point commissions - now the best artists never agree for points, because "they won't pay their bills"). You say points on DA are like € in EU, $ in USA, etc. so if € and $ can be transferred into each other, why points can;t be trandferred into $ or € etc.?
And I want to be pre-paid. I don't want to worry if the customer will or won't pay me later after I make all the job.
* How many commission "slots" do you typically have open at a time?
About 5 for sketch commissions (depends on if they are headshots or full bodies), and 1 for full detailed.
* How do you prefer to communicate between artist and client? Via deviantART Notes? Email? IM?
Via comments(for ordering) and Note(for sending wips etc.)... if there only was a possibility to search notes via user
