Your Feedback

Thank you for the feedback left on last week's Site Update! Here's some of what you had to say:
  • Deviants were pleased with the launch of Multi-Submit and Scheduled Submit. Some deviants mentioned that they would like these tools to be open to everyone, while others said that they feel they are good Premium Member features.
  • Deviants were positive about the new Ideas Forum. We are still actively reading through and analyzing suggestions, but we encourage you to continue to use the new forum, or try it out if you haven't done so yet!
  • Responses to the Discuss topic varied. Some deviants said that they don't use mobile apps when creating art, while others mentioned frequently using them to create. Some of the apps that deviants mentioned include Sketchbook Pro, ArtRage, Procreate, and Art Studio for iOS.

I'm rather late to the party, but I have to say I love Undiscovered. Ironically I only just discovered Undiscovered a week ago because I'd come to hate all the variations of views on the homepage, and I was only coming to the DA site via a button bookmark I'd made to bring me straight to my Messages.

Undiscovered is superb - probably the best additional feature since Muro. I'm finding all kinds of great artists every day, even more reliably than I ever did via Daily Deviations. Well done to everyone that implemented this - great work!

When I create a journal entry in Stash Writer and I'm in rich editing mode the thumbnails are not visible. Sometimes some of them randomly load but then (after switching to html mode and then back to rich editing) they disappear. Is it a known bug or something?

Please get rid of the Sta.sh Writer in the journals, or at least make it optional. I can't use the strike through code anymore. I have issues with how it responds with the enter/return button, and issues with how it decides to alter the way I place icons. Also, when I'm writing a journal on the mobile device, the Sta.sh menu gets in the way when I zoom and I can't see anything.

Undiscovered; no point typing key words; the page merely refreshes to popular or newest again.
Not much help for finding quality works for my group, even though it's better quality stuff.

Regarding use of key words; any deviations submitted after June 23 are not showing up. I must be jinxed. Every time I submit, there's a problem. At least the error message doesn't come up any more.

Hi, I've been noticing this problem in the new journal setup.
I think I'm done with the journal, and then go in to change my status and such. When I click on, say, the "change mood" thing, the new white menu to the right side disappears, the format looks really wierd, and I can't edit my journal in case I think of something else. It could be because I use an outdated browser, but idk, it could be something else.

You can update your browser, but updating my Internet Explorer has caused some computer problems for me, as such I have not updated my own browser. If you use a different browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome, then it may not cause such problems but I can't tell you for sure. Wish I could, though!

seriously, the new page is starting to irritate me.

the fonts i use in my custom Journal skins used to work well in the old version. now look at this journal:

[link]

i didn't type any modification, except the <i></i> option. as you can see, the text shrunk down after the Discount-pms icon. and i when i type :icondiscount-pms:, the icon doesn't show up, just the text as is. i had to copy and paste it from a comment i previewed on my own page.

please at least give us the option to go to the old version. i never liked stash ever since the beginning, and you're forcing me to use it.

I've been having issues searching deviantart. I'm mostly searching in the resources/stock images section of the site and I'll type "Friesian" and it'll give me an error. But if I type "black Friesian" it'll kick out results. Or yesterday I looked for "black pinto" and it gave me the error so I typed in "pinto black" and it kicked back results. It's really starting to bother me. Also the loading scroll pages doesn't work all the time for me. It'll give an error or says "Cannot load" so I have to click pages.

I've tried using different browsers and computers but it keeps doing the same thing.

Anybody else have this issue?

Man, I hate to complain, but this one's got me irritated. Been trying to use Stash for the Journal for a while now. It has been... an obstacle.

From an outside standpoint, it is a very nice idea for just normal writing and for folks with little or no knowledge of HTML. But as someone who actively skins and uses CSS on my page, stash has been a real pain. I have my CSS set up to use standard HTML to style the journal, add links, and create custom content boxes within the journal. But the new Stash Writer (especially in its clunky HTML mode) is butchering my journal code badly, adding all kinds of non-standard/garbage code into my otherwise fine HTML (I.e., the wytiswyg stuff and the decimating of my anchor links with additional and unnecessary html code I did not add myself). I seriously just spent ten minutes tying to put four simple links into my journal, cleaning up after the Stash writer's added mess it tossed in after I put my code in initially. It would have otherwise been a 10-15 second fix.

I'm okay with the general idea of the Stash Writer. But it should not get in the way of established HTML users like this. This thing seriously needs a mode where I can tell it to just be "hands-off" on what I type, and let the site read it exactly as I type it. I know what I am doing, and don't need this Stash writer trying to change my input or do it for me.

P.S., I don't know about others, but I am not, and never will be a fan of WYSIWYG-type HTML editors. I know I am not the only one. I do all my HTML by hand, and would like to continue doing so.

Hi there! If you switch it to HTML mode from the Edit menu when starting a Journal, then it should stick solely to whatever HTML you put in yourself. Is that not working for you?

That works better, I suppose. What originally must have happened, is that when this was first implemented, it converted my pre-existing journal that I edited straight to RTF by default the first time automatically, leading to the mess I observed (I may re-use a single entry for one or more months, only editing it at times). Converting it to HTML afterward gave me a lot of garbage code I did not put in there. I see it has to be explicitly switched to HTML mode each time beforehand, or I'll have this problem again. If I forget and save an edit without doing this, it is going to garble my code up again apparently, seeing from my tinkering with it just now.

Perhaps then, my complaint should be that there needs to be a way to "permanently" toggle it to either RTF or HTML mode, perhaps via a browser cookie or something (or better yet, some kind of backed-up account setting). If I go back right now and make an edit, I have to remember to toggle that HTML setting again before editing and saving *every time I access the editor*, or I'll have to nuke it and do it over again from scratch as a new journal.

I have no idea how this would come about, but when I edit things in Sta.shWriter, the <s> and </s> tags disappear when I click "Done" unless they're embedded right inside other tags. To understand what I mean, here's a few examples:
I type "<sWhite Super</s>", and it appears as just "White Super", not crossed out, and when I edit again the tags are gone.
I type "<b><s>Accounts</s> Groups that need to be iconned:</b>", and it displays correctly, as "Accounts Groups that need to be iconned:", because for some reason the bold tags protect the strikethrough tags.
I type "<small>Words written in <s>crossed-out</s> text</small>", and it appears as "Words written in crossed-out text", because the strikethrough tags being not right after the smalltext tags apperently makes them vulnerable.

the change to the journal thing seemed to have affected the Mobile version, which is quite annoying. i can't access any skins and will have to stick to one skin only---the skin i used previously.

when i switch to Desktop version, i can't scroll down on the skins because my phone isn't that much high tech.

i wonder though, last week the skins were still available on the Mobile version. why did it disappear a few days ago? :stare:

Like the others, I'm curious to how the "undiscovered" algorithm works. This just acts like a less popular "Popular" page. Sure, the comment counts are low, but you look at the favourites and views and they're in the low to high hundreds. Sounds like those people are riding good to me.

If I want truly undiscovered, I'll keep my settings on the Newest section.

So I've been using the undiscovered thing a bit, and I'm liking it so far. I'm curious how it determines what I'm looking at though. I mean, the pieces that show up in that section seem to be higher quality than, say, the ones in the "browse" or "newest" sections, but technically all of those are "undiscovered" as well. I'm not looking for algorithm specifics or anything of course, I'm just wondering how it filters things differently. Are they deviations that have a certain amount of favorites (above X but below Y amounts)? Does it have anything to do with my own gallery/favorites/browsing habits, etc.

Hopefully someone who knows sees this, since this update is four days old now. Thanks in advance if you do. :P

Really going nuts on the new journal writer, please take out the automatic coding it does, now I have to have a document open each time I write and edit my journal just so I can save it and fix the extra coding the writer did, a slight edit messes up the whole thing, it adds codes I didnīt want, take that out and I will appreciate this feature.
