We've been monitoring performance and feedback since launch of the new deviation page to A/B testing, and we wanted to provide an update in regards to how the new deviation page has been performing, as well as following-up on community feedback and response.

Some valid concerns were raised by the community during this testing period and, moving forward, we'll be thinking through how to best address these concerns. In the meantime, there are a few points in particular that we wanted to share with you:
  • More From This Artist was well received by the community, and performed exceptionally well.
  • Deviants did not like having to scroll to find the Favourite button, and there was a noticeable difference in the amount of Favourites coming from deviants with the new deviation page compared to the amount of Favourites from deviants on the old deviation page.

Moving forward, we'll be keeping the aspects of the test that were successful (such as More From This Artist, More from deviantART, and the associated cleaner sidebar styling), while removing the aspects that need further refinement and replace them with the familiar layout of the previous deviation page.

Please know that this is by no means an endpoint. This is a way to launch the changes that worked well, while allowing time to further think through the areas of the design that were problematic.

Thank you for your help in testing the deviation page. Your continued participation and feedback helps create a better deviantART, and for that we are entirely grateful.

Also when sending links why does the whole thing show? Can you at least change it back the old sending link?
Good example:
The whole link shows.
The old sending link didn't show the whole thing.
I prefer the link format when it didn't show the whole URL.

I don't think we need to see the whole link..I know some website links that are super long. And I think the last thing da wants is to basically be clustered with long links in the comment section. Unless you are just talking note wise I don't see why we should need to see the whole link. I liked it better when you sent a link it was just "[link]"

I like the updated design much better than the previous one being tested, some of the widgets were awkwardly placed and I'm glad to see everything seems to have been tied together nicely.
I'm curious about something: when there were tabs under the deviation, I thought I saw a feature under the "Details" tab that told what program the artist used to create their piece. (i.e. "Created with: Photoshop" or perhaps it was "Submitted with: Photoshop") I think that that would be very useful to have under the "Details" section, so more popular artists wouldn't have to keep answering that same question over and over.

I think that'd be virtually impossible to do seeing that you could have worked with SAI and opened the file in Photoshop, to edit it. Also, I don't think PNG files, JPG or Gif files save the program worked with. u.u :iconedwardtongueplz:

I didn't really explain myself, did I? I meant the artist could fill out that information themselves if they chose to, sort of like what's shown here. It would take a little longer to submit something if you wanted to fill out everything, or worked with a variety of different mediums, but I think it would be a cool option.
